Afternoon PBL- 12:45-2:45

On Monday and Thursday mornings, students receive focused instruction in core subjects, building a solid foundation in literacy, math, and essential academic skills.

In the afternoons, learning comes to life through project-based experiences that deepen understanding and spark curiosity. These projects strengthen critical thinking, science and social studies skills, research, collaboration, and real-world problem solving—often through service-oriented work that encourages students to apply what they learn with purpose and integrity.

Afternoon Project Based Learning (PBL)

At Beacon Hill Academy, we’ve chosen a curriculum that reflects our commitment to academic excellence and meaningful, faith-centered learning. For reading, we use The Good and the Beautiful alongside UFLI Foundations for grades K–2 — blending beautifully curated literature and integrated phonics with an explicit, systematic approach to foundational reading skills that builds confident, proficient readers.

In math, we also use The Good and the Beautiful, a curriculum designed to build a deep, conceptual understanding of mathematical thinking through hands-on activities and a spiral approach that reinforces mastery over time.

For Bible, we teach with The Biggest Story Curriculum, a beautifully organized, multi-year series of Scripture lessons that leads students through 104 Bible stories from Genesis to Revelation. It helps students see the grand narrative of God’s redemption and connects every story to the Gospel in ways that are engaging, memorable, and spiritually enriching.

Together, these curricula ensure a rich, rigorous, and joy-filled learning experience that nurtures academic confidence, deep thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.

Placement testing is available if needed to find your child's best curriculum fit.

Morning Core

At Beacon Hill Academy, our afternoons are designed to move learning beyond the textbook and into real-world application. Through intentional, project-based experiences, students learn to solve meaningful problems, collaborate with peers, and think critically about the world around them.

Students explore topics they may not typically encounter, develop new skills, and engage their creativity as they design, build, research, and present their ideas. They learn how to ask better questions, find thoughtful solutions, and communicate their discoveries with confidence.

Most importantly, project-based learning teaches perseverance. Students discover that growth often comes through trial and error — learning how to try again, refine their work, and improve after setbacks. These afternoons cultivate resilience, innovation, teamwork, and the confidence to tackle challenges with wisdom and determination.

At Beacon Hill, we don’t just teach students what to think — we teach them how to think.
